Set on a quiet road, with three private acres of meadow and forest, this fully renovated home boasts modern interiors, plenty of light, and thoughtfully designed spaces for hosting and dining.
The House Tour. Step through the cheery tangerine front door into the open-concept living area, where light floods into every room. A few nautical finishes, like porthole windows and shiplap paneling, add texture to Black Bear’s modern layout and black-and-white design elements.
The open kitchen, brand new appliances and spacious dining area provide an ideal space for dinner parties; a home cook’s dream. Serve cocktails and catch up with friends at the countertop bar all while cooking with ease. Get cozy with a movie in the living room, or a book in the charming reading nook and library. There is plenty of space to gather, and plenty of space for oneself.
Retire upstairs to the spacious primary suite. In the mornings, awake to a light-filled room, with both plenty of space for leisure time, and plenty of space for working from home. A shared en suite bathroom and beautiful walk-in shower will make morning and evening rituals a pleasure. Across the landing, with its dramatic floor-to-ceiling window, there are two more bedrooms, and a bonus room currently staged as a bedroom.
Design Notes & Contents. Black Bear Cottage was originally built in 1902, and has undergone a complete gut renovation and restoration in 2020. All house contents are included in the sale, with the exception of personal items, making this truly a turnkey home.
The Grounds. The wrap-around deck ensures access to sunshine all day long, all while adding privacy to the property.
If the night calls for it, treat yourself to a long soak in the hot tub on the back deck under the stars. The sliding back doors and proximity to the full downstairs bathroom, complete with walk-in shower, make year-round indoor/outdoor hosting a breeze. Summers are for dining al fresco, with a grilling station and fire pit for crisp evenings.
Host overnight guests in the sunny tiny house, which has its own sleeping loft, kitchen, and bathroom.
The Area. Perfect basecamp for outdoor adventures in the Catskills, including the Rail Trail walkable just behind the Black Bear property. Just two miles outside of Livingston Manor, at the base of Catskill Park, Black Bear Cottage is a stone’s throw from incredible dining, drinking, shopping, and gathering establishments. Stock up on gourmet items from Little North or buy steaks for the grill at Van Smokey. It’s only a five minute drive to Main Street Manor, which is a weekender’s delight. With two renowned breweries, a well-stocked grocery store, organic wine shop, and plenty of places to eat, there’s always something exciting to enjoy in town.
